The first time we used Penny was after a two year lay off after just being a broodmare and raising foals. We caught her out of the pasture, and had her going bareback in a halter. She was turning, backing, and side passing to open a gate. Even after the long layoff in the mare band, she moved out willingly without any protest, and wasn't herd bound at all!
She continues to be that kind of mare. One that can be caught up after a long layoff, and willingly go out on the trail! She is friendly and loves the attention of humans. She is a safe ride, one that we put inexperienced riders on.
She fox trots, but doesn't have the reach and speed of some horses. If you are looking for a safe, comfortable ride, this may be your horse. But you ride with fast gaiting horses, Penny may not fit your needs. |
